'An Inconvenient Book' by Glenn Beck. OK, sport's fans, I never thought I would say this, but Mr. Beck makes O'Reilly and company (take your pick) seem, oh I don't know, semi-literate. Reactionary to a fault, this man either has never been taught nuance--and its relationship to thinking critically--or, in the Anne Coulter fashion of punditry, say the most outlandish things to sell books. Either way, this quasi-fascist is the inconvenient problem to America's woes. Mr. Beck: Have you no decency? 'Bill Of Wrongs' by Molly Ivins, Lou Dubose. Molly Ivins has always been an inspiration to me. She tells the truth about often difficult subjects--being a progressive Texas journalist. However, she brings this forward with a distinctive wit, certainly needed now. Domestic and foreign policy headlines might continue providing late night comedy shows with lots of source material. But, they are depressing me and many other citizens, despite our never having voted for the man. The only thing which really makes me mad is that Molly is not around to promote this book's release. After all of the hard work which she put into warning Texas and the country, she should have been able to tour for this book. Life is so unfair. What is Fair…. 'Other Face of America' by Jorge Ramos. In The Other Face of America, Jorge Ramos, explores the important issue of Latino immigration. Using oral histories, he shows the human side of immigrants attempting to provide for their family and improve their quality of life. This is an important issue and what is needed is good solid reporting not one-sided opinions. Ramos seems too lazy to do the research. He simply threw together a number of essays written over the years and calls it a book. Thus, we hear no less than six times why the birth rate of Latino families is greater than American families. He cannot even be bothered to edit his work so he ends up repeating himself. It is unfortunate that this respected reporter has not taken the time and effort to explore, analyze, research, and evaluate the immigration issue. I rarely blog about books I don't like but I just had to on this one. Read for yourself… 'Substance of Style' by Virginia Postrel. I found this eBook smart, fun to read, and correct. She tells us that we have entered the "Age of Aesthetics," a time when beauty and style are to be found everywhere, at least for market economies. Every product, every place, and every experience now is supposed to offer a touch of the aesthetic. The reason is simple: increasingly wealthy and sophisticated customers demand "an enticing, stimulating, diverse, and beautiful world." 'Silent Partner' If you want to read this book you will want to read James McGreevey's book to get the whole picture. Two people who found each other but probably should have never gotten married in the first place. Dina must feel vindicated by telling her side and I don't blame her, but there really are 2 sides to every story. A tragedy for the little child being in the middle of all this, but how blessed Jam & Dina were to have this one positive thing come out of this unusual marriage. 'The Confession' I am glad he is at peace even if only making a half confession. I really am. What about the fact that he would have been running for President right now - had he not been caught? I was prepared to find McGreevey unlikable and pleading, but that was not the case. I could care less about the sex lives of these politicians. They may do whatever they wish as long as they do not do it in their place of business and remember that their position demands ethics -- it is their fiduciary duty to taxpayers -- as well as their duty to be a role-model for our nation's children. Change. Are We Ready?

Change, are we ready? This is definitely a changing World as we know it. Hasn't that always been the case though? These two titles are very different but both talk about change in society, history, politics, families, religion, and the so called elite. I found that God and Hillary Clinton by Paul Kengor a good read. Despite my political views (which I won't go there!) I have a weakness when it comes to the Clinton's and wanting to know more. This book fulfilled my hunger. Again a very thoughtful perspective and well written book. Delux: How Luxury Lost It's Luster by Dana Thomas was a title I thought I would never read.
